- חִיטָּא, חִטָּאm., pl. חִיטַּיָּיא, חִיטִּין, חִיטֵּי, חִטּ׳ ch. (= h. חִטָּה) 1) wheat. Targ. 1 Chr. 21:20. Targ. Ps. 81:17; a. e.Ber.58b חִטֵּי.Ib. 64a; B. Bath. 145b; Hor.14a (prov.) הכל צריכין למרי ח׳ all people depend on the owners of wheat, i. e. sound learning is the bread, while dialectics and homiletics are the spices of study; a. fr. 2) glands, nipples, protuberances.
